SINCE
TCN:
While still working at TCN I started cleaning a
couple of houses to help pay for the meals we ate after all the
games :-) After the school moved to Galt I went into cleaning full time.
In 2002 Marion had open heart surgery and I cut back to 3 days a
week....And 2 days a week is sounding better and better. However Marion
and I love to travel....mostly to see Mike in WI and Jeri in AL, so
I'll probably keep on for a while yet. I found that I love to
scrapbook, so my desk is full of pictures and colored paper. I also
bought a computer 4 years ago, I either love it or hate it, depending
if it is working or not! Mike, bless his heart, almost hates to get a
call from me.. but his patience is abundant. I spend way too much time
trying to figure it out. I still play the organ at our church. And we
are helping in the preparations for the 50th anniversary celebrations
of our church to be in June. Marion and I are doing well and have lots
of wonderful Memories of T.C.N.
MEMORIES OF TCN:
My first memory is of talking to DR. Hatton and Wendy about enrolling
Jeri in 4th grade and Mike in Kindergarten. What a Christian Testimony
these two men had. If we wanted our kids there, we, as a family, had to
be faithful to God, our Church, and uphold the principles of God's
Word. We also needed to stand behind the school and it's teachers. We
decided this was where God wanted our children to be, and we were never
sorry. That 18 mile trip everyday became beneficial when they were
taking drivers ed. To help pay for their schooling, I was
offered a teachers aid position. For 13 years I worked with wonderful
teachers like Karl (with a K) Kaiser, Mary Mendor, Mary Bradshaw, Carol
Hatton, Cathy McCallister, etc. Then 2 years I floated where ever I was
need and got to work in all the classrooms. Getting to know all the
students. I loved you guys! The last 2 years they needed a cook for
school lunch program, what a challenge and Joy. Oh, fond memories of
FLAGS......did you guys really need that much help, or did you just
like to visit and waste time? Then there were demerits and
detentions..."that's 3" I saw some of you an awful lot! Did you know the
teachers met every morning before school and prayed for you and the
school. How about the Armory...I almost felt like it was a second home.
Practices and games...selling tickets, manning the concession stand,
watching you play and cheering you on. We made some wonderful
friends with your parents.. while at the good old armory! Somehow we
always managed to go out to eat after games.. what a wonderful time of
fellowship. Angelo's...we still go there when Jeri and Mike come home.
Do any of you remember when the clown interrupted class to sing Happy
Birthday to Staci and Jeri with BIG Balloon Bouquets? Or When a special
guy left flowers for Kaci? Then we wonder how Pam and Jo ever made it
anywhere on time...seems the bus waited on them an awful lot, good
thing they were loved! Remember the yummy Farmers Breakfasts...Carol
Porter and Sue Dean made such light, delicious biscuits! Any of you get
to try Bonnie Mills Chocolate gravy with them? A lot of work, but well
worth the effort. I always loved watching you at Spirit week...never
knew what to expect. Remember Kayla and Julie in those huge pair of
mens jeans? Or Jeri holding Jenny, making an extremely tall person
wearing a mink coat? Or CLASH Day...WOW, what outfits you wore! Then
you transformed into beautiful people for Homecoming. No memories would
be complete without the mention of going to Springfield, staying in
motels and State Tournament. We went every year. Wendy wanted the
Sportsmanship award. And was always thrilled when we got it. Then there
was stopping at STEAK AND SHAKE (a tradition) on our way home. Lets not
forget the buses that Terry and Marion drove so regularly, that God and
Bill Payne kept running. How many of you were on the Cubs trip when one
of the buses broke down and everyone got to ride home in 1 bus? Time
would fly and it would soon be time for Prom a wonderful way for our
Jrs. and Srs. to get all dressed up and go out to eat, (Parents to come
to the grand march and take pictures:-) Finally watching the graduation
service, realizing you wouldn't be back next year. Seeing you all lined
up outside the church, with a yell, throwing your hats in the air, (and
a tear in your eye) giving us that good-bye hug. We'll always treasure
these memories.
>smile<
Bev thinks she got carried away going down memory lane, but memories
are all that remain of TCN. The good, bad and ugly. Cherish them all as
well as our classmates and friends.
Thanks Bev
Sincerely,
Kevin
